Chandler, Arizona Celebrates April as Valley Bike Month
April is Valley Bike Month and Chandler, Arizona is urging residents to get out and enjoy the beautiful spring weather with a family bike ride. Throughout the Valley there are a variety of events to urge Arizonans to get fit and enjoy the outdoors while practicing bicycle safety.
On Saturday, April 17, 2010, Chandler residents are invited to participate in the City of Chandler Family Bike Ride which “celebrates bicycling for recreation and as a way to replace automobile trips for commuting to work and other short trips.” This FREE 6.4-mile family fun ride includes bike safety information, helmet fittings, giveaways, and an appearance by Radio Disney. The first 100 who pre-register will receive free t-shirts.
Registration for the City of Chandler Family Bike Ride begins at 9 a.m. at Chandler’s Park & Ride lot located on the west side of Tumbleweed Park near the southwest corner of Germann and Hamilton streets in Chandler, Arizona. The bike ride begins at 10 a.m. and will proceed through Tumbleweed Park to the Paseo Trail. All riders must wear helmets.
April 17 is a Day of Fun and Fitness in Chandler, Arizona, and Chandler residents are also invited to participate in the 3rd Annual ICAN Family Fun Run. The 3rd Annual ICAN Family Fun Run will begin prior to the Chandler Family Bike Ride at 8:30 a.m. with registration beginning at 7:30 a.m. the same day. The two-mile run/walk will raise money for ICAN, a Chandler nonprofit out-of-school-time program helping youth at risk.

The 3rd Annual ICAN Family Fun Run begins and ends at Tumbleweed Park beneath the McDowell Mountain Pavilion (745 E. Germann Road, Chandler, Arizona). This is a FREE event for children ages 12 and younger. The race registration fee is $10 per person before April 15, or $15 on the day of the race.
